As the piston moves up and down in the cylinder, the oil that is used to control piston movement is passed through the piston. Each time the piston cycles, small bubbles form in the oil. During highway driving this isn't noticeable, but under repeated long cycling that happens when you're on the trail, the oil can become frothy and the shock loses its dampening ability. This is where the Nitro 8000 comes into play. As the name implies, the Nitro 8000 is filled with nitrogen. The shock tube is pressurized with Nitrogen to 150psi.
